The Orchard’s physical division leverages direct relationships with key physical retailers in the US to provide established independent labels distribution to major retail chains, one-stops, and independent retailers nationwide. Our sales staff has experience managing multi-platinum albums and focuses on individualized service with unparalleled attention to detail - giving clients the exposure they need at the most recognized names in physical music retail.*

Mechanical Licensing

The Orchard ensures labels can secure the necessary publishing approval to sell third-party compositions in the US through a blanket deal with the Harry Fox Agency, and direct deals with non-Harry Fox publishers. A fully staffed licensing department handles the licensing, accounting, and royalty payouts so our clients don’t have to, significantly relieving administrative burden in a cost-effective way.

Publishing Administration

The Orchard offers artists and labels a comprehensive suite of copyright and publishing administration and global sub-publishing services, including the collection of worldwide royalty payments and licensing administration.

Royalty Collection

Throughout the world, performance royalties are earned not only for compositions, but also for master recordings. The Orchard provides a consolidated global solution for the collection of these Sound Recording Performance Rights (Neighboring Rights) from all worldwide societies.

• In the last two years, The Orchard has registered labels in 30 societies across the world.
• The Orchard is the only distributor that has staff in almost all the main countries, allowing us to register in nearly every local Collection Society.
• All money received from Public Performance & Broadcasting goes directly to the profit line of our labels.

How Does The Orchard Do It

• Register. The Orchard will register your label in each local Collections Society.
• Deliver. The Orchard will deliver all data to each Collection Society in its respective data format.
• We'll take it from there. We will update new tracks and handle double claiming, which occurs very frequently.
• Get paid. You will start getting paid and receiving reports.
• Auditing. Many of our labels belong to the back catalog of these societies. We are trying to audit and apply pressure to the societies for more accurate reporting in more niche broadcasters in order to increase your cut.
